The majority of colleges and universities offer some form of financial aid to students attending their school, and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is no exception.

RIT offers a vast selection of scholarship and grant opportunities to students attending their school.

Some of the scholarships offered are based on academic performance, while others are awarded based on an applicant’s financial need. Still other opportunities do not fit into a specific category, and offer varying benefits depending on the individual scholarship.

If you are already attending RIT or plan to, the following guide will list a few of the scholarships and grants the school offers, as well as links to where you can read more about each opportunity.

Merit Scholarships

RIT Presidential Scholarships are awarded based on a number of factors, including academic performance. Additionally, academic recommendations from professionals are also evaluated.

Freshman students to RIT are eligible for this scholarship, and awards typically range from $3,000 to $10,000 per year depending on academic performance.

Honors program scholarships are also available to students’ enrolled/eligible for the RIT Honors Program. Awards are $1,000 per year and renewable based on applicant’s enrollment in the program.

Need- Based Scholarships

RIT Grants are awarded to students attending the school who can demonstrate financial need. Awards can be up to $13,000 per year, depending on the extent of need.

The Federal SMART Grant is another option for students who are in their third or fourth year of study and are enrolled in some sort of math and science program full-time. Students can earn up to $4,000 per year.

All need-based grants and scholarships offered by RIT are awarded based on information compiled in the applicant’s FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.)
