NPG Scholarship Essay Contest
Negative Population Growth (NPG), a non-profit organization, has decided to award three scholarships to deserving students for 2007. The student who places first in this competition will be awarded $2,000; second place will earn $1,000 and third place will receive $500 to apply towards educational expenses.
The scholarships are open to students in any field of study, and deadlines for the award is April 18th. In order to apply for this scholarship, students are asked to write a 500-750 word essay on whether the United States has a sustainable population right now, and if not, what would be a sustainable size and why.
Essays are to be typed, double-spaced with Arial or Times New Roman font. Essays will be judged on grammar and logic, as well as overall quality of the paper. In addition to writing an essay, students must meet a basic list of additional criteria in order to remain eligible for this award.
You must be a legal U.S. citizen to apply and a high school senior. Alternatively, you can be enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, or junior in an undergraduate program to be eligible for this scholarship. You must be attending a college that’s either within the U.S. or operated by the U.S. You can submit only one essay, and you must be able to sign and date your paper.
Additionally, you must print out the application online and fill it out completely. No electronic or faxed submissions will be accepted, so view NPG’s website for details on where to send your application and essay.
If you’re looking for a chance to win money for college, view their website for additional information and how to apply. You could be their next winner for the 2007 school year!
